Answer the following question. The first to get the right answer gets a virtual high-five from your's truly.

The rectangle ABCD has vertices at A(-1,2,3), B(2,6,-9), and D(3,q,8 ). Determine the angle between the two diagonals of this rectangle.

And no, this isn't my homework. I answered this question weeks ago in a minute or so. I just want to see who gets it right first.

Wait, are those z values at the end? Why do you have 3 values in their coordinates?

The third value for each point corresponds to the z-axis. So yes, those are z values. I chose "q" as a variable just for kicks.

I think he's going all third dimension on us.

And I can only think in the second, fourth, or sixty-seventh dimensions o.O

lol, this is just above my grade level. Gimme a few minutes.

Edit: Okay, I can't map this with the tools I have, the only way I could conceivably do it using what I learned is using basic trig that I learned last week to figure out the lengths between all of the points, and figuring out the angle from that. But that's going to turn into a huge fucking mess unless I round, in which case my answer will be off.

I'm in the Canadian education system and I'm taking grade 10 math (yes, it's still just 'math') even though I'm in grade 9. We essentially do parabolas and related max/min problems and intro to trig this year + some applications. I'm not getting this at all, I've never been any good with these coordinates when I can't map them.

Edit: One, teach meh pl0x, two, that picture at the bottom of your post. That would be Toronto, right? Why is that there?

Ya I know you're from Ontario so you'll be in MPM2D right now, and next year you'll take MCR3U. If I was in grade ten and given this question I woulda said "Get the fuck outta here". This is from my Calc + Vectors textbook.

Oh okay, the pic of toronto is your sig. It wasn't showing up before. Assuming that's a digital effect on the skydome, I've never seen it light up like that.

Also why do you memorize course codes :p But yeah, MPM2D.

Edit: moar having thoughts right after I post. What school do you go to? I may or may not know it.

Haha, I don't memorize them I just remember those things after hearing them once. I call it math in person or calc, but this was just specific.

I had made an image to use as my sig but stupid imageshack won't let me, so I just typed in Toronto panorma and picked the best looking one ...

Honestly, teaching you this before you've mastered the porabola, and with no background on vectors... would be death. You are not yet ready to grasp this question young grasshopper. But seriously, explaining the dot product would kill me.

Edit: You don't know my school. I live about 150km from you if your in TO

Before I've mastered parabolas? Pah. Such puny things are two weeks behind me already! Except I did really badly on the last quiz in that unit, I was dead tired that day. Still doing well in the course in general though. I thought you were from TO just because of the sig, I definitely wouldn't know your school.

I would answer this, but I loathe three-dimensional vectors, and I really can't be bothered to answer questions on them again. Had to do way too many of these for C4 last year...
